After a brief respite, Eskom has announced that loadshedding will return on Tuesday afternoon.
Stage 2 starts at 16:00 on Tuesday and will continue up until 22:00. Then on Wednesday morning loadshedding Stage 2 will be implemented once again from 09:00 until 22:00.
“Yesterday, six generators were returned to service at Medupi, Tutuka, Kendal, Majuba and Grootvlei power stations. The breakdown of four units overnight and this morning at Medupi, Duvha, Majuba and Lethabo power stations, as well as a delay in the expected return to service of a unit at Medupi has resulted in the power system being constrained,” Eskom wrote in a power alert on Tuesday afternoon.
The utility goes on to say that there is currently 11 900MW of capacity lost due to unplanned breakdowns while 4 350MW is out on planned maintenance.
