People across the globe are struggling with Gmail disruptions

If you have been experiencing issues with Gmail or any other G Suite applications at the moment, you’re not the only one, as Google has received numerous reports about erratic performance and disruptions to service from users across the globe.

According to Engadget, the issues with Gmail in particular began at midnight in the United States yesterday, and at the time of writing, are yet to be resolved. A look at Down Detector at the moment confirms this, with the number of reported issues peaking at 7:30 this morning with 1 895 incidents.

There also appears to be some disruptions to other G Suite applications, with Google Drive, Meet, Voice and Docs suffering according to a report from Google.

“Our team is continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 10:21 AM with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience. Gmail sending issues, Meet recording issues, Creating files issues in Drive, CSV user upload issues in Admin Console, Posting message issues in Google Chat,” reads the latest update posted on Google’s services page.

An update is said to be forthcoming from Google, but at this stage, the Gmail service is currently listed with an amber light indicating “Service disruption”.

It also appears that Gmail is not the only online platform to be suffering with a disruption of late, with Slack too experiencing some issues.
