Impressive show Cobra Kai gets a rough-looking tie-in game

Cobra Kai – the Karate Kid continuation that was originally a YouTube Originals series – will now also enter the world of videogames by way of a same name beat-’em-up.

This new game has a short trailer that you can watch in the embed below, but before you press play just keep in mind that the gameplay is interspaced with scenes from the show. If you’ve not watched the first two seasons this trailer will spoil some key moments and characters.

Spoilers aside this game looks decidedly last gen, or even older. The stylised look is decent and the new characters from the show are recognisable, so it has that going for it, but nothing else here looks decent aside from its licence.

That being said we felt the same way about the Cora Kai show itself until we actually watched it, so we’re hoping for a surprise here too.

Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues has been revealed by IGN as a game based on the beat-’em-ups of old for two players who can choose between eight characters from the show.

William Zabka and Ralph Macchio will be providing the voice acting for their iconic characters as players fight across 28 missions.

The game is slated for a 27th October 2020 release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

GameMill Entertainment is publishing with the last we heard of them being an announcement for the game G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout.

As for the Cobra Kai show itself, it comes highly recommend. It started off as a show reserved for the YouTube Red paid subscription, which then became YouTube Premium. Two seasons of the show were released before Netflix bought it in June.

Season three of the show, on Netflix, is planned for 28th August 2021.
