Dell debuts Latitude 7410 Chromebook with WFH employees in mind

In recent weeks Dell has been debuting new devices aimed at those working from home under lockdown. With this now the new normal, it looks like Dell is doubling down in this regard as the company recently revealed its new Latitude 7410 Chromebook earlier this week.

Just because this latest offering is a Chromebook though, does not mean that Dell have skimped on the specifications on offer. To that end this 14″ 2-in-1 notebook sports up to a 4K panel, which the company says is a first when it comes to enterprise-focused Chromebooks.

Another important element to this notebook is battery life, with Dell claiming up to a massive 21 hours when fully charged. While most users will be using it at home for now, post-lockdown, road warriors should be interested in that kind of performance. Added to this is an ExpressCharge feature which can go from 0 percent to 35 percent charge in 20 minutes.

In terms of design, Dell is also making a machined aluminium or carbon fibre body design available to enterprise customers, but it remains to be seen if all these customisation options will be available locally at this stage.

As for the processor, up to an Intel 10th Gen i7 chipset will be running in this offering, with it also optimised for Project Athena, the silicon maker confirms. There is also up to 8GB RAM on offer, as well as WiFi 6 and LTE connectivity.

Should your work environment not be reliant on Windows 10, this could prove an interesting offering for those in the enterprise space, especially if you make use of the Google ecosystem.

“Now, more than ever before, IT administrators need innovative technology solutions to support their modern cloud-first businesses,” said John Solomon, VP of Chrome OS at Google.

“That’s why we’re thrilled to expand our premium Chromebook options for enterprise customers with the Latitude 7410 Chromebook Enterprise. Powered by Chrome OS, Dell Latitude Chromebook Enterprise allows IT managers to deploy rapidly and securely while enabling employees to get work done effectively, no matter where they are,” he concludes.

Dell says the Latitude 7410 Chromebook will be available locally to purchase today, with recommended pricing starting at R26 000 excl. VAT.
