Comic Con Africa to host Fairly OddParents creator Butch Hartman

Butch Hartman – most famous as the creator of both The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom – will be appearing as a virtual guest for Comic Con Africa Online 2020.

As Hartman explains in the short video embedded at the bottom of this post, he was planning to attend Comic Con Africa in person before the pandemic made that kind of travel impossible. Hartman was meant to be part of not only the main convention, but also the child-focused KidsCon.

While Hartman is best known for the aforementioned Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, he also created T.U.F.F. Puppy and Bunsen Is a Beast. While all four shows have their fans and cultural place, Hartman was also embroiled in the centre of the strange Oaxis Entertainment streaming service Kickstarter.

Oaxis has weird religious undertones and the last time a public update was made on the $268 134 (~R4.4 million) project was 26th January 2019. Right now the Oaxis website allows you to sign up for monthly updates, read some generic text about how the service may work in the future and, oddly, donate to the company.

We’re not sure what topics Hartman will talk about at Comic Con Africa, or what the online audience will ask him, but we won’t know until the event kicks off.

Comic Con Africa Online is taking place between 24th and 27th September. Registration opened in August and is still available. Registering will get your foot in the door to attend online, as well as enter contests.
