We’re going to stop short of calling this good news but Eskom will only be implementing loadshedding later this afternoon.

Much like Tuesday, Eskom has managed to recover enough generating capacity to stave off loadshedding for most of the day.

However, the situation is still dire enough to warrant Stage 1 loadshedding from 16:00 until 22:00 this evening.

“Having successfully returned four generation units to service today, no loadshedding was implemented as the generation capacity improved. While two more units are expected to return to service tomorrow, another two units will be taken offline tonight for urgent maintenance. As a result, Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 22:00 tomorrow,” Eskom said on Tuesday evening.

Eskom says that unplanned breakdowns mean 9 2424MW of capacity is not available while planned maintenance means 5 246MW of generating capacity is not available.

To prepare for loadshedding later today be sure to charge up your gadgets and check your schedules online to prepare.

Alternatively the EskomSePush app for Android or iOS delivers notifications regarding loadshedding directly to your smartphone.
