Lenovo DCG unveils new HCI solutions with Nutanix, Microsoft and VMWare

As countries begin to reopen following lockdowns brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic it’s clear that “going back to normal” is simply a pipe dream.

Results from a survey conducted by PwC in the US found that 83 percent of office workers would like to work remotely at least one day a week while 72 percent would like to work remotely twice a week.

Working from home is very popular and companies should now be looking at implementing the option properly rather than while a pandemic ravages through the country.

As such, Lenovo Data Centre Group (DCG) has announced hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and cloud services solutions in partnership with the likes of Nutanix, Microsoft and VMWare.

These solutions should help to implement virtual desktop infrastructure to be used by folks outside of the physical boundaries of a company.

So what was announced?

Regarding Lenovo and Nutanix there was another player involved in AMD. Together the trio have announced the new Lenovo ThinkAgile HX portfolio. These 1U servers offer up enhanced process core density, increased memory bandwidth and new security capabilities for virtual desktop workloads. The servers will be using AMD EPYC processors.

Microsoft will be collaborating with Lenovo on the new ThinkAgile MX Azure Stack HCI Edge and Server Appliances. Here deployment of hybrid cloud infrastructure will be simplified so that only one console is used. Here you will be able to manage your infrastructure an easily modernise or scale operations.

Finally, Lenovo, in collaboration with VMware, announced the new Lenovo ThinkAgile VX HCI Solutions, improving agility and reliability for SAP HANA database deployments. Lenovo ThinkAgile VX HCI Solutions are 4S certified nodes that enable customers to modernise their infrastructure for high-end database solutions and SAP HANA, improving agility and simplifying lifecycle management of vSAN environments.
