The cheap ride is over, Game Pass for PC pricing doubles this month

Of all the PC gaming subscription services in all the world, Xbox Game Pass for PC is to our mind, the best value for money.

The subscription service has been in Beta since its launch in June 2019 and while a monthly subscription costs R49, you are able to get your first month for just R15.90.

Or should we say, you were able to pay that price because Xbox has announced that Game Pass for PC is exiting Beta.

The question is, how much will Xbox Game Pass for PC cost after 17th September?

Xbox has responded to a question in the thread above about pricing in the US and said that the price is $9.99. Given that the price is currently $4.99 in the US and R49 locally we’re going to assume that Game Pass for PC will carry a price of R99.

Of course, that’s us simply following the current trend. We’ve pinged Xbox’s local representatives to confirm the price and when we hear back from them we’ll update this story.

Even at R99 though, you’re getting a fantastic deal.

This is partly due to EA Play coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for PC at no additional cost. Yes, you will get access to EA’s library of games as well as Xbox’s for one subscription fee.

Xbox has said that EA Play is coming “this holiday” so if you want that additional value you’ll have to wait.

It goes without saying then if you want Game Pass for PC or even just to test it out, you have until 17th September to do so.

Oh and one more thing.

Xbox All Access lets you pay for a console and Game Pass Ultimate over 24 months with prices starting at $24.99. While originally only available in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand, All Access has added eight new countries.

Sadly, South Africa is not one of those countries so we’ll likely have to pay for our consoles the old fashioned way.
