There is one good thing about Mondays, Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlists are updated.

One of the things that keeps Spotify users, erm, using the service are the tailored playlists based on your tastes.

The Discover Weekly playlist is one of the main personalised playlists with new music, tracks from artists you might like and favourites refreshed every week.

In fact, the playlist is so popular that between July 2019 and June 2020, 2.3 billion hours of music was streamed through Spotify.

So now Spotify South Africa is giving local brands the opportunity to sponsor the Discover Weekly playlist and get their brand in front of millions of eyes.

Rather importantly, these sponsorships will only show up in the free version of Spotify and not the premium versions.

“Discover Weekly gives us, and any playlist sponsors, an opportunity to show users that we know them even better than they may know themselves. At Spotify we are focused on providing brands and advertisers with unique opportunities to engage with consumers, and the potential sponsorship of Discover Weekly really delivers against that. We’ve already rolled this offering out in the UK and US and have had great feedback from brands that have seized the opportunity to engage with a hyper-captivated audience,” explains regional head of sales for Spotify in the UK and Pan-EMEA regions, Rak Patel.

The first sponsor of Discover Weekly Playlists in South Africa will be, Telkom South Africa.

The network operator will be showcasing its Social Bundles during its sponsorship of the playlists.

It’s a nice little marketing opportunity for brands but as of time of writing there’s not really a way that we can see for your company to start sponsoring a playlist.

Unfortunately the website we would direct you to is not available at present with the Spotify For Brands website devoid of any local information.
