Arguably the most popular VR game out there, Beat Saber, will be getting multiplayer in less than a month on 13th October.

This was announced at Facebook Connect along with other interesting VR news like the Jurassic World survival horror game Aftermath.

In this mode players can make stylised avatars to challenge friends or randoms from around the world.

Unfortunately this does come with some bad news. As reported by Road To VR, this multiplayer will not allow Steam and Oculus Rift Store owners to play each other, at least not at launch.

Things aren’t much better on the console side, as the release date for the PlayStation 4 version is up in the air at the moment.

“Dear PS VR players, we are doing everything we can to make sure we release multiplayer simultaneously on all platforms on October 13 but there might be a delay with the PS4 version. Please bear with us and check our social media regularly for new updates about PS VR,” reads the official Beat Saber Twitter account.

While two bouts of subpar news aren’t great the scales are evened out somewhat by the announcement of a new music pack featuring Korean band BTS.

In November 12 BTS songs will be added to the game along with some added functionality to learn dance moves which accompany the music. It will also have a unique TinyTAN art style (see below).

Prior to BTS the last music pack that arrived in the game was none other than Linkin Park which recently celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the famous debut album Hybrid Theory.

While we definitely prefer Linkin Park between these two, BTS is still wildly more popular right now and may bring a brand new audience to Beat Saber. We’ll have to wait for November to see how that pans out.
