Neil Cicierega is a name everyone on the internet should know because you’ve likely come across his work in the past.

He’s behind internet classics Potter Puppet Pals and The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. Both of these are certified earworms that a certain percentage of the population has buried away in their psyche and has just busted out by being mentioned.

What’s more surprising is what Cicierega has been up to in recent years. He’s been involved in many projects such as free browser games and, well, nightmares, but what you should pay attention to is his mashup music.

Mashups have become a staple of places like YouTube with powerhouses like oneboredjeu and William Maranci cranking out legitimately fantastic music by way of combing existing tracks.

Cicierega, however, is on an entirely different level when it comes to mashups and this has been exemplified in a trio of albums: Mouth Sounds, Mouth Silence and Mouth Moods. For those wondering, yes, the recurring use of the word “mouth” is related to Smashmouth and its meme goldmine song All Star.

We don’t want to sound highfalutin but this really is some transcendental listening. Today in South Africa it’s a public holiday and we highly recommend getting some friends or family around to listen to these albums right through. The way Cicierega has blended this music – together with adverts, interviews and other miscellaneous sound bites – is truly astounding.

The three albums are all embedded from YouTube below as that’s the platform we and many others first discovered it on. Dedicated pages for Mouth Sounds, Mouth Silence and Mouth Moods can be found on Cicierega’s personal website by clicking on those links. You can listen to the albums there instead, download them and support the artist in various ways.

The albums below are also hosted on the NeilCicieregaMusic YouTube channel which we suggest subscribing to.
