One of the biggest blows to the launch of the Xbox Series X has been the delay of Halo Infinite into 2021, which means that Microsoft’s new console won’t launch with its most bankable mascot. Despite this Monster Energy is going ahead with a campaign involving the game starting in September this year.

Acknowledging this fact is the subtitle of the announcement which is Bank Now, Play Later.

“Partnerships like this don’t happen overnight, and this one has been in the works for a long time. While Halo Infinite has been delayed to 2021, we are excited to share that our partnership with Monster Energy will bring together our iconic global brands across the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe to celebrate the launch of Halo Infinite in 2021, and even offers a sneak peek at some exclusive new Halo Infinite multiplayer items,” Reads the post.

Those multiplayer items, as you may have guessed, are Monster themed. Four carbon black and metallic skins for weapons have been revealed, together with emblems.

Getting these aren’t as easy as just buying some cans of Monster, though that is the first step.

Buying special cans will come with 30 minute double XP boosts for the game, as well as a Snapcode to access these filters.

Receipts will need to be saved for the can purchases as they need to be redeemed at this dedicated website. Doing so will unlock a code which can be redeemed on the official Halo Waypoint site.

Completing monthly challenges involving these codes will then unlock the gun skins and emblems above, but those in the US also have extra opportunities which will be revealed later at certain stores.

While these kinds of promotions are usually America-centric and sometimes don’t even leave the shores of the USA, this will be a worldwide promotion. Specific mention is even made of the EMEA territories (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) so we may see Master Chief on Monster cans here in South Africa.

The dates of each territory are as follows:

  • USA: 1st September – 31st December 2020
  • Canada: 1st September – 31st December 2020
  • EMEA: 1st October – 31st December 2020
  • Mexico: 10th September 2020 onward
