Hades crosses the million sales mark

The latest title from Supergiant Games, Hades, has sold more than a million copies in its lifetime after receiving a rather large shot in the arm from releasing out of Early Access.

“700,000 of these were during our Early Access development. To all our Early Access players: Thank you so much. We designed Hades for Early Access, believing you could help us make a better game. That’s just what you did,” reads a tweet from the developer.

As a bit of history Hades released as an in-development game on the Epic Games Store on 6th December 2018. It then arrived on Steam in Early Access around a year later, and then the 1.0 release arrived on both platforms last week.

The 1.0 release on PC stores was accompanied by the Nintendo Switch port too. In the last few days Hades has been floating around the Nintendo eShop Best Sellers list for donwload-only games.

You can see a picture of this in the header image above, though we did have to crop out talented developer Darren Korb to fit the image onto our site. Korb not only created much of the memorable music you hear in Supergiant Games titles, but also provides the voice acting for Hades’ main character Zagreus. Sorry Korb.

If you’ve just picked up Hades for the first time check out our beginner’s guide to get going. For those who burnt themselves out in Early Access and don’t want to return for the full release, you can watch the true ending of the game that was added for 1.0.

For those new to the game we highly suggest picking it up. For its launch week it’s discounted by 20 percent, and the reviews from users are stellar. On Steam alone it has 26 321 reviews overall with 98 percent of them being positive.
