All FNB Speedpoints now accept QR code payments

Contactless payments have become rather popular given the advice to touch as few things as possible.

In a bid to make these sorts of payments a bit more widespread, FNB has announced that all of its Speedpoint terminals now support QR code payments.

This means that you can now use apps such as Zapper, Snapscan or FNB’s own Scan to Pay at FNB Speedpoints.

“Given the challenges we are currently facing globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was essential that we fast-track the rollout of QR code payments for enhanced convenience and safety,” said chief executive officer at FNB Merchant Services, Thokozani Dlamini.

QR code payments add to FNB’s contactless offerings which support a range of digital payment options including Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay.

“Added to the cost effective, convenient and efficient payment process of contactless payments, both consumers and merchants will have peace of mind from a safety perspective, as physical contact will be limited. Moreover, this solution will help us in driving wider financial inclusion and acceptance – helping consumers move away from cash,” added Dlamini.

“QR Code acceptance forms part of our overall contactless payment solutions providing customers with convenience and choice when making payment via FNB Speedpoint devices at merchants throughout South Africa,” the CEO concluded.
