The Huawei P Smart S is a new mid-range phone for R6k

It seems like every other week a new mid-range smartphone is announced locally in a bid to tempt you out of your hard earned cash. Doing so this week is the new Huawei P Smart S running HMS, which is currently available for purchase for the recommended price of R5 999.

So what is this latest mid-range device from Huawei packing?

The P Smart S features a well sized 6.3″ OLED screen up front, with a dewdrop screen notch used to house the 16MP front facing camera onboard. Sticking with the display, Huawei says it serves up a 90.17 percent screen-to-body ratio, so if you’re averse to bezels, the P Smart S should have you covered.

Some of the notable features on this device, include a 4 000mAh battery, which Huawei says can offer up to 1 000 hours of music streaming, or 13 hours of video calling, or 5.7 hours of 3D gaming, before the battery needs another recharge.

Other internal elements include an octa-core Kirin 710F processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

Switching back to the the cameras, on the rear a 48MP primary lens can be found, This is supported by a 12MP ultrawide-angle, 2MP marco and 2MP depth sensing lenses, to serve up a quartet of cameras.

Huawei confirms that the new P Smart S is available for purchase locally from MTN and Telkom, as well as the company’s dedicated local online store. Heading to the latter, you’ll also the P Smart S bundled with a pair of Freelace wireless earphones.

With Oppo recently entering the market, it looks like there will quite a few options available to local consumers when it comes to mid-range smartphones.
