Apple’s iPhone event set to take place on 13th October

Having already launched its new Apple Watch Series 6 and the iPad Air, we’ve been patiently waiting for news on Apple’s new iPhones.

That wait will end next week on 13th October at 19:00 local time when Apple hosts another event at Apple Park.

While the banner over on the Apple website is rather nondescript but thankfully Engadget was sent an invitation with a bit more information.

We say a bit because we mean “a bit”, the tagline accompanying the invitation contained two words “Hi, Speed”.

This likely points to 5G capabilities coming to iPhone. This is almost something Apple has to do considering the breadth of 5G capable Android smartphones that are currently available.

Other notable rumours include the launch of four different iPhone models. As per CNET, there are rumours of an iPhone Mini, iPhone, iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max.

That’s a lot of product for a company that has struggled with its due to COVID-19 forcing many countries into lockdown.

That having been said, production has since seemingly ramped up and if the firm was confident enough to launch a new Watch and iPad, perhaps there is enough capacity to produce iPhones.

It should be noted that Apple usually unveils its new smartphones in September but pushed this back likely due to concerns about COVID-19 impacting the supply chain.

We will have to see what Tim Apple Cook and friends have cooked up for us next week.
