Destiny 2 will go offline from 9th – 10th November to prepare for Beyond Light

We are little over a month away from the next big Destiny 2 expansion – Beyond Light.

While we wait for our ticket to Europa Bungie has been teasing content ahead of Beyond Light’s release most notable a slew of Exotics which were announced this week.

New weapons and armour are great to see but today we wanted to give you a bit of a warning.

To prepare for the launch of Beyond Light, Destiny 2 will be taken offline for maintenance from 04:00 CAT on 9th November.

Those keeping tabs on release dates will notice that this is a long before Beyond Light is meant to launch but Bungie has to prepare for the launch of that expansion.

And Beyond Light is not a simple expansion, at least from a technical standpoint.

Bungie has revamped its mission scripting, content building and patching pipeline all with a view to streamlining Destiny 2. The result is that Destiny 2’s installed size will shrink by 30 – 40 percent but you will have to download the game in full on 10th November.

Bungie has said that a pre-load will be available on 9th November which is great but you won’t be able to dive into Destiny 2: Beyond Light until 19:00 on 10th November.

The downside here is that you have one day less to wrap up your Season of Arrivals grind and acquire gear and weapons which will be sunset.

This also means opening any Umbral Engrams you might’ve earned this season.

For those who are still trying to complete quests, raids and more, Bungie has a full breakdown regarding what is being sunset here.

In even more important news, if you are yet to migrate your Destiny 2 account from Battle.net to Steam, you have until 1st December.

“Any Destiny 2 PC players who have not migrated their licenses and content from Battle.net to Steam will no longer be available to do so starting on December 1. Players in this state are encouraged to start our PC Migration process so they will not lose access to their Destiny 2 licenses and content,” Bungie wrote.

Now if you’ll excuse us we have 50 eyes to shoot for that Forerunner titles and we only have so much time left to find them.
