The Huawei Watch Fit – Perfect for those new to fitness wearables

Wearables have been around for a few years now, but in general have proved too expensive for the average consumer. This is a real pity considering some of the innovative technology and advanced sensors that many of these devices feature, but there is a new device on the market that aims to shake things up a bit – The Huawei Watch Fit.

Launched locally earlier this month, the Watch Fit is one of Huawei’s most affordable wearables on the market, while also boasting a range of impressive features and functions tailor made for those consumers wanting to get fitter.

Priced for a recommended R2 999, and bundled locally with the Huawei Smart Scale via the official online store (while stocks last), the Watch Fit is geared towards helping you achieve your fitness goals, regardless of what they may be.

Sleek and efficient

For newcomers to fitness wearables in particular, the Watch Fit makes a lot of sense, especially as it prioritises the essentials while not being too expensive.

A sleek and refined device, the Watch Fit goes for a rectangular design as opposed to the circular one seen in other Huawei smartwatches.

While helping to differentiate the Watch Fit from other devices in the Huawei ecosystem, the rectangular design has the added benefit of delivering a generous 1.64″ display. Added to this is an AMOLED construction and HD resolution (456×280) to ensure all content is vivid and crisp, even at its lower brightness settings.

The design also brings unique digital watch faces to the fore, which you can explore, download and add to your Watch Fit once paired with the Huawei Health app (available on Android and iOS).

This app not only facilitates an easy setup, but also allows users to dive deeper into the fitness data they capture throughout the day, all of which is presented in a simple and clear format.

As such it removes all the complexity of fitness data, which too can prove daunting and confusing for newcomers.

Packed with sensors

The Watch Fit is not all sizzle and no steak either, with Huawei ensuring that it boasts some of the best sensors available on the leading devices on the market, as well as a few that they don’t.

To that end an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light and capacitive sensor are all present, with real-time optical heart rate sensing too. With built-in GPS added to the mix as well, the Watch Fit is perfectly equipped to help you measure your performance in 96 different workout modes, meaning all your bases are covered.

Oh, did we mention that it delivers up to 10 days of battery life from a full charge, which is all the more impressive given its slim and lightweight 21 gram body. As such, while other fitness-focused smartwatches are needing to charge every night, the Watch Fit can go a full week and then some.

There are plenty of smartwatches out there to choose, but none are boasting the superb value for money and breadth of features that the Huawei Watch Fit does. Because of this it’s perfect for those new to fitness wearables, but in need of something serious.
