While there has been a furious fervour for next-gen gaming consoles locally ever since pricing and availability were confirmed early last month, finding retailers with enough pre-order stock has proved difficult. For those on the lookout for the Xbox Series X and Series S in particular, Prima Interactive has offered some respite by confirming the arrival of additional stock on 10th November.

“Microsoft has prioritized South Africa, and providing additional stock is confirmation of their commitment to our market. Worldwide pre-orders have sold out thus we recommend that customers register their interest on retailers ‘Wish list’ before 19 October. We are on track to deliver the stock on time for launch on 10 November,” noted Ian Hepplewhite, CEO of local Xbox distributor, Prima Interactive, in a press release sent to Hypertext.

Precisely how much additional stock will be made available remains to be seen, but with Black Friday deals expected for most of November too, there will likely be a frenzy in terms of securing a pre-order for yourself.

Once the dust settles following the 19th October local release of the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, it will be interesting to see how many pre-orders happened in South Africa, as well as comparing them to the number of the PS5.

For now, it looks like Microsoft is adding the lure of GamePass, in order to make its next-gen consoles more tempting.

“With Xbox’s innovative Game Pass you have a catalogue of over 100 great games available to play for R99 per month,” added the press release.
