It’s official: Rainbow Six Siege is on Game Pass, but not for PC

After some speculation and teasers Microsoft has today confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege will be available on Xbox Game Pass, albeit with a rather large caveat: subscribers on PC won’t get access.

“Hey, Operators, new step in your preparation phase: rebuild your ‘to play’ gaming list because Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is coming to Console with Xbox Game Pass and cloud gaming on Android devices with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on October 22. This highly competitive PVP game is going to give your map memorization skills a workout,” reads the announcement.

As you can see there’s no mention of PC in that opening remark or anywhere else in the official news on the Xbox Wire site.

In fact not a lot of information is provided at all aside from “it’s coming”. Mention is made that new players will be joining 60 million accounts already registered to the game.

There’s also some incentive for people to play the game on Game Pass instead of elsewhere, as there will be a 10 percent discount on in-game items for subscribers. That means it will cost less for cosmetics, boosters and season passes.

That being said those items are more intended for seasoned players and completely new ones trying out the game for the first time through Game Pass will likely pot around for free until they get the hang of things. Even then those boosters may be enticing.

For those on PC who do want to play the game it’s available from Uplay’s own store as well as Steam. On the former store it’s discounted rather heavily too, with 60 percent off the base game, 67 percent off of the Deluxe Edition and 55 percent off of the Gold and Ultimate Editions. The game is also included in Uplay+.
