New ConceptD PCs feature RTX 30 and RTX 5000 GPUs

At Acer’s Next@Acer conference this afternoon, the firm showed off three new devices in its ConceptD range sporting a variety of Nvidia’s new Ampere and older Turing tech, as well as Intel’s 10th Generation processors.

Let’s start with the mid-tower, the ConceptD 300.

Wrapped in white and black accents on the main air intake up front and finished with a wooden panel on top, Apple’s Mac Pro cheese graters look rather garish alongside this workstation.

While the ConceptD is a workstation range, what is curious is that the ConceptD 300 features RTX 30-series graphics rather than a RTX 5000. We are curious to see what sort of CAD performance the RTX 3070 (the GPU in this machine) offers up in this machine though given what we saw with the RTX 3080, it might just perform admirably with CAD workloads.

Acer ConceptD 300.

The CPU is a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 that will have up to 64GB of DDR4 2666MHz memory to draw from.

It sounds mighty impressive and as regards prosumers, those looking to leverage the power of Nvidia’s CUDA cores for CAD will surely be considering this instead of Apple’s AMD powered Mac Pro.

The ConceptD 7 and ConceptD 7 Pro

Acer will also be updating its notebook range in the ConceptD lineup with two new notebooks.

Unfortunately Acer spent much of its time fawning over the specs in the ConceptD 7 Pro and we have very little information about the specs of the ConceptD 7 right now.

What we do know is that you will be getting up to a 10th Gen Intel Core i7, Intel WiFi 6, Thunderbolt 3 and a 4K IPS display. Those displays are PANTONE-validated and offer up 100 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB colour space with a colour accuracy of Delta E<2.

Acer ConceptD 7 Pro.

The ConceptD 7 Pro will sport an Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000. Despite being based on older Turing architecture it still boasts 3072 CUDA Cores, 48 RT Cores, 384 Tensor Cores and 16GB of ultra-fast GPU memory.

The ConceptD 7 meanwhile will include GeForce RTX GPUs but Acer didn’t share more than that.

Acer is also highlighting its new Vortex Flow cooling solution which claims to reduce noise levels by 40dBA. This is good news, though we do wonder whether this claim comes from a machine underload or not.

As for release dates and pricing, the ConceptD 300 will launch in November with a price of €1 299.

The ConceptD 7 Pro hits shelves in EMEA in December and will start with a price tag of €3 699.

The ConceptD 7 will be available in EMEA in October with pricing starting at €2 899.

We do not have local pricing or availability as of time of writing.
