How to track the delivery of Unisa study material & degrees

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has a partnership with local courier company Skynet to offer services to students, with maybe the most important of them being the delivery of study material.

Despite this many students don’t know about this partnership, or the fact that you can use Skynet’s website to track deliveries from the university.

As fulfilment of physical study material is usually done automatically without input from students, this is easy to miss.

To find out which deliveries from Unisa are currently being handles by Skynet:

  1. Go to the Skynet website www.skynet.co.za
  2. Hover over “Customer Services”
  3. Click on “Unisa Student Tracking”
  4. Enter your student number and click on “List Shipments”
  5. Click on the “Shipment No” to view the waybill

While the focus on this is study materials like the all important study guides, that’s not all that Skynet handles for Unisa.

Rather importantly it will also be delivering the completed degrees and other qualification documents for students who have completed them. Due to the ongoing pandemic Unisa has cancelled all graduation ceremonies indefinitely. These ceremonies were where the physical documents would be handed over to students traditionally.

Those who complete their qualifications will instead be “in absentia” AKA absent from graduation until the ceremonies are started up again. Tracking of the documents related to graduation is also done through the tracking steps outlined above.

Finally, Skynet also offers the free delivery of completed assignments from students to the university. The full details of this can be found on this dedicated page.

It should be noted that physical assignments are being actively discouraged by Unisa right now, and rightfully so as it could be a vector for transmission of COVID-19. The delivery of physical study material may also be affected by this, so it’s best to keep this information aside for the future.
