You can now add a Call Reason to Truecaller before you call

A trio of new features are heading to Truecaller for Android today that aim to provide more information to those receiving calls.

The most notable feature of the three is Call Reason which is exactly what it says on the can.

Call Reason gives the caller an option to add a note regarding what the call is about before dialing a person. The person receiving the call will then see this note.

Businesses can also make use of this feature by setting up a custom message that goes out to the customer before they call.

The second feature coming to Truecaller for Android today is the ability to schedule an SMS. Much like scheduling an email or similar, simply set a time and date that you want your text to be sent.

The third and final feature being released today is SMS translate.

Powered by Google’s Machine Learning Kit which can be implemented to translate up to 58 languages on device. Truecaller does highlight that users will have to download additional language packs in order to translate some languages.

“We have been working towards building an innovative communication suite for our users, these new features are the next big step in line with our mission,” wrote chief product officer at Truecaller, Rishit Jhunjhunwala.

“Communication in 2020 is easier with all the advancements in technology, but also complicated due to the various ways in which people connect for information. As a brand, we strive to stay true to the core principle of building a product for masses while always acting in the public interest. We are constantly listening to our users and want to help them by putting more power in their hands,” Jhunjhunwala added.

As mentioned all of these features are only available for Truecaller on Android devices though Call Reason will come to iOS “early next year”.
