The rAge expo is a South African institution and a highlight of every year’s calendar. Unfortunately, much like all large events during the pandemic, there’s no physical event to attend.

That doesn’t mean rAge isn’t happening, however, as the show must go on. From 6th to 8th November 2020, the organisers of rAge will be hosting the Digital Edition which will try to bring as much of the experience online as possible.

Taking place between 6th and 8th November rAge Digital Edition is entirely free with tickets available on Howler.

In a livestream today the organisers shared some highlights of the Digital Edition which you can experience from home.

rAge Minecraft World

Attendees with a knack for building are invited to join special Minecraft servers and build within specified plots.

Over the course of the four day event a winner will be chosen every day, with the prize being a R1 000 voucher for Incredible Connection. Impressive builds will be picked by rAge staff and then the community will vote on the winner each day.

The full details for this can be found here.

The Community Zone

One of the big appeals of rAge was meeting friends and other people with the common interests of games, anime, cosplay and more at the convention.

In place of this the Digital Edition will facilitate interaction with a range of panel discussions, live streams and other interactive content to get involved.

Some events linked to this include a FIFA 21 tournament and Battle Room Brawls.

Loads of competitions

While the Minecraft contest above requires access to the game and some creative inspiration to win, there are many other contests happening at rAge which require less effort but still produce massive reward for the winners.

  • Live stream giveaways: Every day that the rAge Digital Edition livestream takes place a trio of items will be given away – a laptop, a Logitech headset and a Thronmax microphone.
  • Battle of the Gamers: an Xbox Series X and an HP Omen laptop are up for grabs. More details are available here.
  • rAge loot box: A mystery loot box with various prizes inside, including a Logitech G502, will pop up randomly throughout the event.
  • BNG-O MissionCard: A spin on a bingo card requiring participants to complete 18 tasks during rAge. Six winners on each day of the event who complete these tasks will win.
  • Ticket laptop: Booking your free ticket automatically enters you into a contest to win a laptop from Incredible Connection.
  • Treasure hunt and wheel of fortune: These will be held on the ACGL website.
