Six new Predator and Nitro monitors from Acer – All the details

For those who have recently updated their gaming rig or gamers looking to upgrade their display ahead of the launch of next generation consoles, Acer has six new monitors for you to choose from.

Four of the new monitors hail from the Predator range, while the Nitro range will bring two new models to stores.

Let’s start with the Nitro monitors.

The Nitro XV272U KV and Nitro XV272 LV are both 27inch monitors which feature Eyesafe certification, which will supposedly help to prevent eye fatigue.

The Nitro XV272 LV sports a FullHD (1920 x 1080) resolution, but offers up to a 165Hz refresh rate with overclocking. In terms of colour gamut you can expect 90 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space and a low DeltaE<1 accuracy rating.

For those who have pre-ordered the Xbox Series X, the Acer Nitro XV272U KV is a QHD (2560×1440) monitor that may pique your interest. The monitor sports an Agile-Splendor IPS panel.

This panel uses fast liquid crystal technology to reduce native response times down to 1ms, similar to what a TN panel offers, while also giving you that wide viewing angle IPS displays are known for.

The Nitro XV272U KV’s colour gamut covers 95 percent of the DCI-P3 colour spectrum with an accuracy of DeltaE<1 and you have a refresh rate of up to 170Hz if you overclock the monitor.

We’re rather curious about this monitor and we’re going to see if we can get a review unit in as soon as possible.

Unfortunately that will mean have to wait until December when the Nitro XV272U KV and Nitro XV272 LV launch in EMEA with a starting price of €469 and €319 respectively.

Get to the chopper

Onward to the Predator series where there are four monitors to look at in the XB3 series.

Let’s start at the only 1080p monitor and work our way up.

The Predator XB253Q is a rather small 24.5inch display that supports Nvidia G-Sync. Not all that exciting we’re sure you’ll agree but the XB253Q features a refresh rate of up to 280Hz (with overclocking) and a 0.5ms grey-to-grey response time.

The monitor also features LightSense which will sync your RGB to the best of the music games and more.

The Predator XB253Q launches in EMEA in January 2021 with prices starting at €449

Moving up to a higher resolution and form factor we have the 27inch Predator XB273U NV, one of Acer’s first gaming monitors certified by Eyesafe.

“The Predator XB273U NV manages high-energy wavelengths in order to selectively filter out blue light while maintaining crisp and vivid color quality. Additionally, Acer VisionCare 4.0 incorporates a range of technologies—LightSense, AdaptiveLight, ColorSense and ProxiSense—that measure environmental and ambient light and then automatically adjust the monitor’s brightness and color-temperature to match it, helping reduce eye strain,” Acer explained in a press release.

The monitor features a QHD (2560×1440) resolution as well as VESA Display HDR 400 certification.

Next up is the 32inch Predator XB323U GX which features a QHD (2560×1440) resolution with up to a 270Hz refresh rate (with overclocking).

What caught our eye, however, was the 99 percent coverage of the AdobeRGB colour space and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification. This should be agreeable for those editing content between games but it depends on the colour accuracy out of the box which Acer didn’t include in its press release.

The Predator XB323U GX lands on shelves in EMEA in December and carries a huge starting price of €999.

Finally, the biggest monitor in the range, the 34inch, curved Predator X34 GS. Once again Acer has called on its Agile-Splendor IPS tech for faster response times and wide viewing angles which erm, make sense in an ultra-wide monitor.

The resolution here is a lofty UWQHD (3440×1440) and you will be getting G-Sync support and a refresh rate of 180Hz (with, you guessed it, overclocking) and 98 percent DCI-P3 colour space coverage. Rounding things off is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.

You will also find two seven watt speakers within the Predator X34 GS.

The Predator X34 GS lands on shelves in EMEA in December with a starting price of €1 099.
