Remote working is here to stay, with many employees now investing in their at-home setup for work. As such, people are looking for smarter solutions that will make remote working more efficient. Manufacturers are cognisant of this, which is why Samsung recently debuted its new M7 Smart Monitor.
This new device is built with many of Samsung’s Smart TV functionality at its core, along with proving quite flexible in terms of the devices it can connect to, services it pair with, and different at-home setups it can enable.
“Around the world, work, education and entertainment have transformed into home-centered activities,” says Hyesung Ha, SVP of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
“With this new normal, it is no surprise that most indicators show a rise in digital activities and many are rethinking their technology use at home. Our new Smart Monitor is a direct response to that demand. Consumers no longer have to choose between a screen for one or the other as this display brings it all together,” Ha added.
So what is the M7 Smart Monitor sporting?
For one it can connect with both PCs and smartphones. The former is nothing new, but the M7 supports other mobile connections outside of Samsung DeX, with App Casting or Apple AirPlay 2 also available.
There’s also embedded WiFi connectivity, as well as a single USB Type C port onboard that facilitates data transfers, the display functionality and powers the M7, which is a nice touch for those who don’t want to deal with lots of cables.
As mentioned, Samsung’s Smart TV capabilities are featured here, which means access to the company’s Smart Hub that includes access to applications like Netflix and YouTube sans connection to another device.
The new M7 also comes in 27″ and 32″ display flavours, along with FullHD and UltraHD resolutions. This latest offering goes on sale Stateside, South Korea and China today, starting at $400, with other regions expected to receive it at the end of November.
It’s unclear if SA is such a region, but if it is, the M7 might prove a very worthwhile options for those who will be working from a lot in 2021.
