The Asus ZenBook Flip 13 – As versatile and flexible as you need it to be

2020 has meant that the decisions that went into purchasing a piece of hardware have changed.

Different features and functions are now being prioritised that may have received less attention than before. As such, consumers and businesses alike are looking for jack of all trade-type devices that can meet the needs of a user regardless of what they’re doing.

It is why the new Asus ZenBook Flip 13 comes so highly recommended, with the recently launched Windows 10 Pro convertible notebook offering up a few different features, specifications and work modes to appeal to a wide breadth of user.

So what distinguishes this device from other convertible notebooks in the market?

First and foremost it is sporting the latest 11th Gen Intel Core processors, along with supporting the aforementioned Windows 10 Pro operating system. Locally, both the i7 (1165G7) and i5 (1135G7) CPUs are available, with up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 1TB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD onboard.

As such, the ZenBook Flip 13 comes well appointed from a component perspective.

Asus has not stopped there either, ensuring that this convertible notebook is both thin and light, has an all-day (and then some) battery, along with a vibrant display that can be posed in a number of modes for a variety of uses.

With all of the above in mind, let’s run through what the ZenBook Flip 13 is sporting.

In terms of the design, the Flip 13 comes in at a featherweight 1.3kg, and is equally thin at 13.9mm. Luckily this thinness has not impacted the amount of ports on offer, with two Thunderbolt 4 USB Type C, a USB Type A and HDMI port available, which is something you rarely spot on such a svelte device.

Added to this is up to 14 hours of battery life, which means that when a charging point is not close at hand, or the country’s power utility decides to have an off day, your Flip 13 is still good to go.

The 67Wh battery onboard also supports Asus’ Easy Charge functionality, which affords up to 60 percent battery life from 49 minutes of charge.

Lastly, the real big selling point of the ZenBook Flip 13 – its display.

Generously sized at 13.3″, this NanoEdge panel (3.9mm bezels) is crammed full of features, such as delivering a rich 1920×1080 resolution that will make any detail pop off of the screen.

There’s also support for 100 percent sRGB, which is crucial for those looking to design work on the Flip 13. Sticking with creatives, the screen can rotate vertically 360 degrees to switch into a tablet mode which is great for scribing or drawing, with 4 096 pressure level support too to ensure your creations are nuanced.

While in tablet mode, the Flip 13 can be orientated like a book for a better reading experience, as well as being posed in a display or tent position for when you’re simply wanting to enjoy videos or movies on the device.

The innovation does not end there though, with Asus adding elements like the dual-function touchpad which features an LED-lit numeric keypad that can be activated when needed.

On the biometric side of things an infrared camera is able to recognise a user’s face within milliseconds to operate Windows Hello, not to mention WiFi 6 connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as a speaker experience fine tuned by Harman Kardon.

Whether it be for design, content creation, working on the road or simply entertainment, the Asus ZenBook Flip 13 has it all. This new device is not simply a jack of trades, it’s mastered them too.
