As we pass the midpoint for November, it looks as if the the number of new daily infections for COVID-19 in South Africa is on the rise, if only slightly. This as 1 245 new cases have been reported over the past 24 hours, according to the NDoH.
While this number might sound fairly innocuous, it is higher than what we have seen in recent weeks, with the number of new daily infections starting off the week below the 1k mark.
Whether they will pick up rapidly as the week progresses, however, remains to be seen.
As such, it serves as a reminder to remain vigilant when the holidays begin locally, as the chaos of 2020, coupled with the frustration of lockdown, will result in many South Africans choosing not to adhere to social distancing regulations.
Shifting back to the latest report from the NDoH, the total number of cases to date now sits at 752 269, with 695 496 recoveries and over 5.14 million tests having been conducted.
Unfortunately, 73 new fatalities have also been recorded as a result of COVID-19 in South Africa, pushing the total number of deaths to 20 314.
