Override 2 open beta arrives on PS4, PS5 and PC

Override 2: Super Mech League – the upcoming 3D giant mech fighting game – has an open beta live right now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.

The open beta will run until 22nd November, giving players just three days to participate. You will be able to play eight mechs in this beta out of the 20 planned launch characters, meaning you get to experience almost half of the launch roster.

Those eight characters are:

  • Watchbot
  • Mya
  • Sprinkles
  • Aura
  • Pescado
  • Vintage
  • Vidar
  • Setesh

We’ve been playing a bit of this beta and we can report that, while many of these mechs are returning from the original 2018 game, they feel suitably different.

This lines up with what we learned from developer Modus Brazil when we interviewed them back in October this year.

As is mentioned in the interview the entire combat system has been reworked and things feel much smoother and faster.

We highly recommend giving the open beta a try as it’s free and you can usually never got wrong with giant mechs punching each other. Again it’s available on PC via Steam and on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on the PlayStation Store.

If you need a bit more impetus to try the game out there’s also a new trailer embedded below.

Override 2: Super Mech League is scheduled for a full release on 22nd December 2020. Unlike this open beta it will be available on just about every piece of hardware out there: Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
