Deep Stone Crypt Raid Race winners could only be called on Monday

Last week Bungie released the latest expansion for Destiny 2 in Beyond Light and with that expansion comes a new Raid.

The Deep Stone Crypt Raid opens on 21st November at 20:00 local time and if you plan on running the race, there are a few things you should know.

For one, as with Garden of Salvation, Contest Mode will be active for the first 24 hours of the Raid’s launch. What is Contest Mode? Good question.

Contest Mode insures that all teams are at the same sort of level going into the various encounters in the raid. To that end, all players will be capped at 20 Power below each encounter.

In addition, Contest Mode disables Artifact Power, so if you’ve been grinding out Artifact levels you’re out of luck.

Going into the Deep Stone Crypt players should aim to be at 1230 Power and being above 1230 won’t help your cause.

But unlike with past races where a winner was announced shortly after completion, Deep Stone Crypt will be different.

“Once the raid has been conquered, we will announce that the activity has been completed from @Bungie on Twitter. After this, our teams will start diving into the data to verify that the first completion was clean. Our hope is to be able to announce the winners shortly after World first, but we want to ensure our validation efforts are sound. Ultimately, our goal is to have a post congratulating the winning team on Monday, 23rd November,” Bungie wrote in the latest This Week at Bungie blog.

The reason there is this delay is because Destiny 2 has a cheating problem at present and the World First race isn’t just a fun community activity there are real world prizes on the line as you can see below. There’s also a healthy dose of prestige that goes along with being the first team to complete what can often become a grueling 24 hour fight.

Something else the should be mentioned is that a bug present with Shadebinder Warlock (the new Stasis sub-class) has been fixed with patch 3.0.0.3. This means you shouldn’t see bosses being melted in two minutes as we have seen this week.

Who to watch?

If, like us, you have no interesting in trying to run the Raid on day one then perhaps you’ll want to watch others making the run.

While there are many content creators worth watching on the day we’ve selected our favourites that we know are running the Raid race.

The streamer to watch here is Datto who with his team Math Class has become something of a meme within the community following their completion of the Last Wish raid in 24 hours and two minutes.

You can find links to the channels we’ll be tuning into below.

To all those running the Deep Stone Crypt good luck, unless you glitched into the Raid already and have mapped it out then, we aren’t going to wish you luck.
