Among Us accounts planned for December

Among Us – the insanely popular social deduction / party game – continues to receive updates and will see some large changes before 2020 is over, including player accounts.

This was announced in the latest patch notes, which are available here. While accounts aren’t included in this most recent patch they will instead be coming in the last month of the year.

“We’re hoping to get accounts into the game by December. This will allow players to report accounts that are toxic and/or hacking. They may be a bit barebones at first but things like friendslists will also come at a later date after launch,” reads the post from developer InnerSloth.

Despite being a casual game cheating has been a big problem in Among Us ever since this 2108 game experienced a renaissance and a massive influx of players. Like the similarly casual obstacle course game Fall Guys anything that’s popular will have its share of cheaters.

Other new features pencilled in for addition to the game include a new map, professional translation / localisation and colour blind support. Unlike the addition of accounts no release period is provided for these new features, which is intentional.

“We have lots of things planned, but no real official roadmap. We play things pretty loose so we can tackle what we think the game needs most. We also don’t want to promise anything and then not provide it so it’s a scary thing to share,” InnerSloth adds.

This is fair considering the fact that missing or changing dates is a bit of a taboo action in the world of games. Take Cyberpunk 2077 which, while worlds away when it comes to scope and budget, it and developer / publisher CD Projekt Red, have received endless hate and vitriol after announcing another delay.

As Among Us players wait for these new additions to the game the patch which announced them contains the following available now:

Added Anonymous Voting option

  • All votes appear as grey

Added Task Bar Modes

  • Always mode works like normal
  • Meeting mode only updates the bar during meetings
  • Invisible mode removes the task bar entirely

MIRA: Comms sabotage clears the security logs

Added symbols to fix wires task

Added cosmetics to meeting screen

Various bug fixes.
