Following a day of loadshedding at Stage 4, South Africans will have to contend with severe power cuts once again as Eskom implements loadshedding all day.
Eskom has said that it will need to implement Stage 3 loadshedding from 08:00 until 22:00 today. After 22:00, Stage 2 loadshedding will be in effect.
“Although there has been a slight improvement in generation performance today, we have unfortunately had further breakdowns at Kusile, Matla and Tutuka Power Stations,” Eskom wrote in a power alert late on Wednesday evening.

The utility adds that the increased frequency of loadshedding is necessary in order to replenish emergency reserves which have been depleted throughout the week.
In terms of generation capacity Eskoms reports 13 995MW is unavailable due to unplanned breakdowns while 1 273MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.
