Stage 1 loadshedding comes into effect at 17:00 on Monday

While South Africans didn’t have to contend with loadshedding during the day on Monday, that changes at 17:00.

Eskom has announced that Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from 17:00 until 22:00 on Monday evening. The reason is, as always, a loss of generation units. This time two units at Kusile Power Station are down and one each at Kendal and Tutuka.

There has also been a delay in returning units at Kusile, Duvha and Matla Power Stations.

“The likelihood of loadshedding is high for the rest of the week as the power system remains constrained and vulnerable and Eskom will communicate promptly should there be any changes,” Eskom added.

As of 14:00 on Monday, Eskom reports breakdowns mean 15 570MW of capacity is unavailable while 1 273MW is unavailable due to maintenance.

As always, we advise checking out the Eskom loadshedding site and Eskomsepush on mobile to keep up to date with what times your area will be affected and when to charge necessary devices for the coming week.
