Xbox Mini Fridge goes from meme to reality, but no word on whether you can buy it

Xbox wrapped up its collaborative E3 2021 press conference with Bethesda last night, serving up gameplay trailers for titles like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 among many others. The company also chose to close out its presentation with a “one last thing” announcement that saw a meme from the reveal of the Xbox Series X last year come full circle with the Xbox Mini Fridge.

Dubbed the “world’s most powerful mini fridge,” this is seemingly real and a product that Xbox plans to launch during the 2021 holiday season. Full details are sparse at the moment, with no confirmation of price, a launch date or indeed whether this is a product local Xbox fans can purchase.

As such it still remains to be seen if the Xbox Mini Fridge is simply the company leaning into the meme and garnering more interest in the brand, or whether we’ll seen be able to store a few cold ones inside of a fridge that looks just like the Series X.

We did, however, get some background on the technology that the Xbox Mini Fridge supposedly sports, such as “velocity cooling architecture”. Precisely what that means for the contents you store inside the mini fridge remains to be seen, but it looks like it can potentially store up to 10 320ml cans. Speaking of which, if there is not some kind of crossover promotion with Monster Energy drink, given the colours on display in the video below, the marketing team at Xbox has missed a trick.

Whether this is indeed a real product that Xbox will manufacture and sell to the is still unclear for now, but that said, if Xbox did bring this to fruition, it would be pleasing to see that a company has a good sense of humour along with seeing an opportunity to make money in the process.
