007’s Aston Martin DB5 explodes into Rocket league today

James Bond’s tricked out Aston Martin DB5, without a doubt one of the most iconic cars to ever exist, will today become available in Rocket League.

“Q has been hard at work in the lab developing the perfect vehicle for Soccar. The Aston Martin DB5 has been outfitted with rocket boost and an Octane hitbox, and is now ready to go airborne and score goals. 007’s Aston Martin DB5 comes with the signature Silver Birch Paint Finish that resembles the original color of the Aston Martin, one-of-a-kind Engine Audio, 007’s Aston Martin DB5 Wheels, and a Reel Life Decal,” reads the announcement.

It’s always been joked that Rocket League is “soccer with cars” but since when did they start using the made up Portmanteau of “Soccar”? Weird English aside you can see how this car will work in the game thanks to the trailer embedded at the bottom of this post.

Rocket League developer Psyonix seems to have incorporated the boost feature of the game by having the licence plate flip down and the exhaust come out from there. We sincerely hope that’s how the car will function in the game and not some CGI created only for this trailer.

Those wanting to get the car will need to spend the Credits currency. As a point of reference Credits can be bought in bundles of 500 (R93), 1 100 (R186), 3 000 (R465) and 6 500 (R930).

“Get 007’s Aston Martin DB5 in the Item Shop for 1100 Credits for a limited time before it’s gone. Bond will declassify more of his garage later this year, so stay tuned for more mission briefings!” the announcement adds.

At the very least this new content isn’t some odd combination of Credits that would require buying multiple bundles. That being said the 1 100 Credit bundle is around the price of a new movie ticket in South Africa, worth keeping in mind because you could pay to see a James Bond movie for the same price as driving his car.

That is, of course, a segue to talk about No Time To Die, the perpetually delayed last instalment in Daniel Craig’s run as 007. The latest international release date is October and only in cinemas. According to local listings No Time To Die will be in theatres come 1st October, barring any new lockdowns shutting down the cinemas.
