Among Us gets free game trial on Nintendo Switch tomorrow

As Among Us continues to remain relatively popular those somehow still on the fence about the game will be given a chance to try it for free thanks to the latest game trial on the Nintendo Switch.

Game trials are different from demos because it isn’t just a slice of the game that players get to experience but rather the full fat version of the title. The limiting factor here is that the game trial period doesn’t last forever and Among Us will only be available between 21st and 27th July.

The other caveat here is that a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is needed to qualify, which is a strange value proposition here.

In South Africa a digital copy of Among Us is still extremely cheap at just R77. A single month of Nintendo Switch Online costs R52, so buying one month of the service doesn’t make much sense if all you want is the game – it’s better to just buy it outright.

Providing further reason to outright buy the game is the fact that, for the same period that the game trial is available, Among Us will also be discounted by 30 percent on the eShop. This should bring the localised price of the game down to R53.90, making it a few Rand off of the single month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.

On the other side of the coin, for those who already like Among Us and want to spend a lot of money, the physical versions of the game are available for pre-order in South Africa from various stores.

You can spend between R539.10 and R1 299 on the three different versions of the game that are available across the various consoles including PC.

Finally it’s worth once again mentioning that Among Us is free to play on mobile (supported with ads) and it is included in Xbox Game Pass.
