Here’s a sneak peek at the LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship

Back in January 2020 LEGO took votes as to what Ultimate Collectors Series set should be made for Star Wars next. The Republic Gunship came first beating the Nebulon-B Frigate and TIE Bomber. Now we will finally see what has been in the works for the last 18 months or so.

But first a quick recap. The Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) is a subtheme of Star Wars focused on the biggest recreations of vehicles and scenes from the movies.

At one point the UCS Millennium Falcon was the biggest set the company has ever made. Other UCS sets include the Star Destroyer which is more than a metre long. Whatever the Republic Gunship comes out as, it’s sure to be big and expensive.

Back to the gunship and those who voted in the poll received the following email from LEGO:

Dear [USERNAME],

Chosen by you, it is!

The latest LEGO® Star Wars™ Ultimate Collectors Series set – The Republic Gunship – is mission ready and about to take off in support of the Galactic Republic!

And as you are one of the more than 30,000 LEGO Ideas voters who made sure the Republic Gunship beat the competition and became a reality, we’re offering you this world exclusive sneak peek of what’s coming!

We of course know you want to see this behemoth in all its glory. We therefore invite you to tune into our special YouTube Premiere that starts on the 15th of July, 2021 at 9.00 (EST) / 15.00 (CEST), where the full set will be revealed!

The YouTube Premiere will be hosted by ultimate LEGO Star Wars AFOL, David Hall, featuring LEGO Designers Jens Kronvold Frederiksen and Hans Burkhard Schlömer.

Along with the email a sneak peek image of the set was provide, but with a resolution of 540 X 250, it’s miniscule and you can’t make out much.

We’ve used an AI upscaler to blow it up for a clearer view, but it’s still difficult to make out much:

Thankfully we won’t need to wait long for that official reveal. The 15:00 CEST time is the same as local time so you can tune into it without needing to stay up late or wake up early.

The aforementioned premiere will be happing on the official LEGO YouTube account, so you can check back there tomorrow.

Unlike some other sets which are leaked months before an official release, this one has been kept under wraps rather well. It will be interesting to see the exact piece count and price for one of the most iconic vehicles from the Clone Wars era.
