Michael Schumacher doccie hits Netflix in September

Before Lewis Hamilton was breaking records every other weekend and when F1 cars were loud and obnoxious, Michael Schumacher was the golden boy of F1.

Now Schumacher’s story will be told as part of a Netflix documentary that has the full support of the driver’s family. The doccie will be simply titled, Schumacher

This is a big deal as the family has understandably kept to themselves ever since Schumacher suffered a catastrophic brain injury while skiing in 2013.

The documentary will surely touch on this event but for the most part fans will be able to see never-before released interviews with the icon, footage from archives and of course interviews with the family.

“The greatest challenge for the directors was certainly to find the balance between independent reporting and consideration for the family. Corinna Schumacher herself was our greatest support in this. She herself wanted to make an authentic film, to show Michael as he is, with all his ups and downs, without any sugarcoating. She was great and brave enough to let us do what we wanted, and so we respected and kept her boundaries. A very inspiring, warm woman who made a lasting impression on all of us,” says Schumacher director and producer, Vanessa Nöcker.

Other interviews to look out for include those with Jean Todt, Bernie Ecclestone and long time rivals Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard.

The documentary will be released to coincide with Schumacher’s entry into F1 30 years ago.

Schumacher will hit Netflix on 15th September.
