Uber offering those in Durban two free rides from Friday until Sunday

Like many organisations this week, Uber South Africa is looking to do its part to assist in the #RebuildSA efforts, specifically looking to help those in KwaZulu-Natal with free rides between tomorrow 23rd July 2021 until Sunday 25th July 2021.

To that end, those travelling in Durban qualify for two free rides, up to R100 each, during the aforementioned period by using the promo code HELPKZN212.

Uber South Africa says if riders are in the city of Durban, they will be automatically eligible for this discount, but should the discount not be visible in the “Promotions” section of the Uber app, they can enter the aforementioned promo code.

“We want to ensure that transport isn’t a barrier to #Rebuilding Durban. Whether you’re wanting to reconnect with friends or family, getting essential goods or helping a small business start to rebuild, we want you to be able to move around with ease,” explains Frans Hiemstra, Uber GM for Sub Saharan Africa.

“So while this is good to help rebuild, but also something for riders to get some normality or a treat for them that they deserve,” he adds.

If you are in Durban for the next few days and wish to make use of the offer, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Uber app
  2. From the app menu, select “Wallet.”
  3. Scroll down to “Promotions.”
  4. Tap “Add promo code.”
  5. Enter the code and tap “Add.”
  6. Enter your destination and request a ride as usual.

“While the trip is free for you (up to R100 per trip), we encourage you to tip your driver to show your appreciation,” concludes Hiemstra.
