Nokia X10 and X20 landing in SA as affordable mid-range 5G phones

Earlier this year, Nokia unveiled six new smartphones, ranging from the entry-level to mid-range. On the higher end of the spectrum was the new X10 and X20, which are designed to deliver a premium phone experience for far less, according to the company.

Both of these devices will be landing in South Africa next month, sporting support for 5G, two days worth of battery life and three years of Android OS updates.

Looking a bit closer at what’s on offer, the Nokia X10 will be available in Forest Green. Added to this is a 48MP quad camera setup and 6.67” display that delivers an HD+ resolution. As for the 5G functionality, this is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset that is said to be up to 20 times faster than similarly specced 4G phones.

As for the Nokia X20, it has the same chipset that supports 5G and a FullHD+ display. In terms of what differentiates it from the X10, a 64MP quad camera setup is found, along with a 32MP front facing option. It will be available locally in Nordic Blue and features a compostable case for those interested in sustainability.

HMD Global, which manufactures Nokia Mobile devices, confirms the Nokia X10 and X20 will be available locally in early September via Takealot and Vodacom, with the former costing R6 999 (6GB RAM, 128GB storage) and the latter at R7 999 (8GB RAM, 128GB storage).
