Samsung’s Galaxy Buds2 aren’t beans and that’s great

Alongside it’s new smartphones and watches, Samsung has revealed a fresh iteration of its Galaxy Buds named, the Buds2.

First off, we’re thankful that the Buds aren’t borrowing a shape from the Galaxy Buds Live which we felt had a terrible form factor that we frankly still don’t understand.

The good news is that the Galaxy Buds2 follows the original Buds and Buds Pro at least in terms of design and form factor. This has the benefit of being able to use a Buds Pro case to charge your earphones just in case you lose your charging case for whatever reason.

We’re keen to see some of the third-party cases released for the Buds2, but it’s unclear whether South Africans will be able to purchase these cases locally.

In terms of audio Samsung claims that its active noise cancelling is now 98 percent effective and that there are now three different levels of noise cancelling so that you can hear more ambient noise when needed.

There are also as many as three microphones in the Galaxy Buds2 so that those you call have a better experience.

In terms of battery life Samsung says the Buds2 will last for five hours between charges with the active noise cancelling switched on and you should get at least 20 hours in total with charges in between listening sessions.

Samsung also said that it has improved its Buds software for PC which we are keen to check out as the previous iterations have left much to be desired, especially as regards the feature set.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds will be available in the US starting on 27th August with a price of $149.99.

Pricing and availability for South Africa has yet to be announced, but we will be sure to share that information when it is confirmed.
