Steam Next Fest returns again in October

The Steam Next Fest is becoming a more frequent event on the platform combining sales and demos, with yet another edition planned for October.

“Announcing Steam Next Fest, a multi-day celebration of upcoming games. Explore and play hundreds of game demos, watch developer livestreams, and chat with teams about their games in progress, coming soon to Steam,” an announcement reads.

This latest edition will take place between 1st and 7th October so there’s only a week of opportunity to participate.

Take our advice and remember those dates. For the last Next Fest, which happened back in June, we downloaded a handful of the 700 available demos, but didn’t get a chance to play them until a few days after the event ended.

Even if the demo has been downloaded to your PC it can become unplayable after the end of the Next Fest. Some kindly developers leave access to the demos open after the fact, but many don’t.

If you need help remembering the dates head to the official page and set yourself a reminder. The reminder can be sent to you via email or the Steam mobile app. You can also add the October Next Fest to your calendar through Google, Apple or Outlook.

To entice both customers and developers Valve released some key figures about the success of a past Next Fest. Valve reported massive increases in wishlist additions and game participation.

For this next edition developers can go to this page dedicated to them where registration is open for participation. The page also comes with lots of helpful information such as details for preparing a demo, advice on game visibility and press, an FAQ and more.

Looking at some of the assets on that page and the games Wytchwood and Endling are used as examples. We assume this is more for demonstration purposes to show how other developers can use the included assets to make images for the event.
