We are now a couple of days into adjusted level 2 lockdown and while the number of newly recorded daily cases appears to be lessening, the same cannot be said for deaths related to COVID-19 in South Africa.
This as the past 24 hours has seen 300 deaths reported by the National Department of Health (NDoH). Consequently the death toll has climbed to 85 302, showcasing that the impact of the third wave is far from gone and controlling the spread of the delta variant of the virus should be a top priority.
Looking at the other figures in the latest report, 3 699 cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours as the total number of infections to date for SA rises to 2 864 534. The recovery rate has also increased slightly to 93.9 percent, while over 17.14 million tests have been conducted to date.
