Hello Kitty will be paid DLC for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania

Yet another crossover character as been announced for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania in the form of Hello Kitty, but this time you will need to fork over some cash for it.

Several crossover characters have been announced prior to this with some requiring payment and others being free, so here’s a quick recap.

Hello Kitty and Morgana, will both cost $4.99 to access. On the other side of things Kazuma Kiryu, Beat, Sonic and Tails will be free.

We’re not entirely sure why there is this divide between characters here but there is a lot of Sega representation of characters. This is to be expected with Sega also acting as the publisher of Banana Mania.

Back To Hello Kitty and, unlike some of the revealed characters, it will not be made available after launch but will be there day one to hoover up the money of those willing to pay.

“The adorable [Hello Kitty] is rolling into the world of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania! As Hello Kitty says, ‘You can never have too many friends!’ writes Sega on Twitter.

It seems these kinds of crossovers are the way to go for just about every game on the market. Fortnite becoming a host to just about every other property in the world has opened the gates for every other title to take a swing at things.

It made sense for Fortnite as a free game where premium skins are a way to show off to friends and internet strangers alike, but to us it makes less sense when this kind of bonus content is paid DLC on top of a game that isn’t free. Regardless it’s not necessary to play the game.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will be released on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on 5th October 2021.
