PlayStation to host PS5-focused showcase on 9th September

This time next week we’ll be preparing to tune into a PS5 Showcase event that PlayStation has recently announced. The event is scheduled for 9th September and the livestream kicks off at 22:00 local time.

Details at this stage are thing on the ground, but PlayStation has confirmed what will not be on show. Namely anything related to what it has been working on for VR.

“One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us,” explained a blog post.

“The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase,” it adds.

While we would have liked to see what Sony has been working on in terms of VR, the chance for notable updates on titles like God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, as well as any surprise announcements, will be welcome.

Things have been awfully quiet at PlayStation of late, especially with the flurry of significant announcements that Xbox has made recently, so Sony does have the opportunity to impress depending on what the Showcase has in store.

Those wanting to tune into the Showcase, will be able to watch it either on PlaysStation’s dedicated YouTube or Twitch channels.
