Total War: Warhammer 3 delay – ‘extra time means we can accomplish more’

Planned for release this year, Total War: Warhammer 3 has been delayed into early 2022.

The strategy title based on the Games Workshop IP ushers in a trilogy by developer Creative Assembly.

Chief Product Officer at the developer, Rob Bartholomew, penned an announcement of the delay which can be seen in the tweet below.

The preamble to the announcement states that this new release window will give the developer time to accomplish more.

Grand Cathay mentioned below is a playable human faction planned for Total War: Warhammer 3.

While the pandemic has been the go-to reason for many game delays it is not mentioned and no real extra information is supplied about the release change.

Hopefully this means that Creative Assembly simply needs more time to get things right and no outside forces have interfered with development.

The “early 2022” window, as well as the mention of the wait being not much longer could mean that the title is closer than we think.

While any level headed person usually agrees that delays are a good thing in the long run, the Warhammer franchise has not been in a good place as a whole as of late.

The aforementioned owner Games Workshop has made some very unwelcome decisions recently with the most unsavoury being a change to how fans can make use of its IP.

Famously many talented individuals on places like YouTube have used Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 as a basis for personal projects which are now being shut down or abandoned.

Many believe that this move was to encourage people to instead pay for official content offered in a new service called Warhammer+.
