Clubhouse adds Music Mode for better audio quality during live performances

This year has seen a number of big tech firms try to get in on the action first pioneered by Clubhouse. As such, the spatial audio landscape is rather interesting one and in order to stay one step ahead of the competition Clubhouse has announced Music Mode.

As the name would suggest, Music Mode is a mode made for music or to be more precise offer audio quality that improves the listening and playing of live music for users on the platform.

It looks like this latest addition is aimed squarely at musicians, with other applications trying to mimic Clubhouse also aiming to court live music fans.

“Today we’re introducing Music Mode, a new setting that helps you sound your best when performing on Clubhouse. Whether you’re workshopping that new song, playing piano, or hosting a jam session with your friends, Music Mode optimizes Clubhouse to broadcast your music with high quality and great stereo sound. You’ll also be able to use professional audio equipment for your performance, like external USB microphones or mixing boards,” the platform explained in a blog post.

“To enable Music Mode when you’re speaking in a room, tap the three dots and select ‘Audio Quality’ from the menu. Then choose the ‘Music’ option to start your jam session. For those listening, you won’t need to hop on stage for better audio quality (so stay in the audience if that’s your mood!) You’ll also be able to hear stereo audio whether you use headphones, a speaker, or just your phone,” it adds.

It remains to be seen whether this new addition results in more people flocking to Clubhouse.

That said, with rival platforms looking to do the same by appealing to musicians and making their respective apps digital spaces where people want to be, it looks like Clubhouse has beaten them to the punch again.
