As has been the case in past months, with each passing day, the numbers regarding COVID-19 in South Africa increase.

We are nowhere near the peak during the third wave, which was bolstered by the delta variant of the virus, but with local government elections happening next week Monday on 1st November, people across the country will need to exercise caution when at their at voting stations.

For now, the latest report form the National Department of Health (NDoH) confirms that 331 cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours. This sees the total number of infections reported to date rise to 2 920 109.

The department also confirms that 53 fatalities have been reported over the past 24 hours, which is a sharp increase from the previous day’s figure. The death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa climbs to 88 987 as a result.

Looking at the other figures in the report, the recovery rate remains at 96.3 percent. As for the vaccine rollout, 196 080 jabs were administered yesterday, while a total of 21 721 854 vaccines have been administered as of 17:00 on 26th October.
