Detroit: Become Human stealth updated with Steam trading cards

Without any announcement or any official word Detroit: Become Human has been updated to include Steam trading cards and an associated badge.

People who own the game on Steam logged into the client today to find a message about their inventories being updated with trading cards even if they have not played the game in a long time. On top of this the game doesn’t even need to be installed for the trading cards to be awarded.

Our account with a playthrough of the game on it was granted five trading cards and we’re not alone.

“Anyone else just [received] a trading card? Did they add it jus [now]? Wasn’t even playing it when I got it,” reads a post on the Steam Community forum.

“there’s badges for DBH now?? I randomly got 5 cards over night and I haven’t played in months,” adds a post on the Detroit: Become Human subreddit.

There are nine trading cards which can be earned all named after characters in the game:

  • Chloe (1 of 9, Series 1)
  • Connor (2 of 9, Series 1)
  • Carl (3 of 9, Series 1)
  • Alice (4 of 9, Series 1)
  • Hank (5 of 9, Series 1)
  • Kamski (6 of 9, Series 1)
  • Luther (7 of 9, Series 1)
  • Markus (8 of 9, Series 1)
  • North (9 of 9, Series 1).

The badge which can be crafted is called “Blue LED” for 100 XP. This is, of course, a reference to the circular LED which is attached to the right temple of androids.

While we’ll never say no to some free trading cards it is a bit odd that they were added without any announcement. The official Twitter accounts for the game and developer Quantic Dream make no mention of the new inclusion.

The PC port of Detroit: Become Human was made available on Steam in June of last year making this small update all the more puzzling.

Platform aside if you’re interested in this game, but haven’t had the chance to play it give our launch review a read to see if it’s for you.
