MTN Online School announced as free platform for Grades R to 12

Earlier today, MTN together with the Department of Basic Education launched a new digital platform to assist local learners with access to resources – the MTN Online School.

The free portal provides a digital curriculum for Grades R to 12 and additional features like video lessons, assessments and extra-tuition lessons for learners in Grade 10 to Matric.

During today’s event, MTN explained that the full content library will be added to the platform and made available over a period of three years, focusing on key subjects.

“Together with the innovation and commitment to societal change by MTN, today’s launch of the MTN Online School is a significant leap forward for education and ushers in positive change for communities across South Africa,” noted Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, who was on hand at the event.

The integrated online educational portal is supported and housed on the MTN network and is zero data rated for MTN customers, which means it can be used without any data should you be a part of the carrier.

“Our aim is to enable the youth to access educational fundamentals to tackle the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in a manner that allows them to access future opportunities. Today’s launch is a product of great partnerships and shows how together, we can do more, be more and achieve more,” added MTN SA CEO Godfrey Motsa.
